3M Design Center opens in Japan

3M has opened a Design Center in Tokyo, with the company describing the new studio as “a hub to accelerate the growth of design across the global enterprise”.

Eric Quint, chief design officer at 3M, said: “It’s exciting to expand and grow 3M Design across the globe – providing a center of design that enables and stimulates creativity is critical to continued growth in Asia.

“Cross-functional collaboration with colleagues, customers and partners delivers strong design value for our customers and a strategic platform to differentiate 3M.”

The 3M Design Japan team engages designers across a wide range of industries – automotive, consumer electronics, architecture and home furnishings.

Kevin Gilboe, head of design, 3M Asia, said opening 3M Design Japan is an integral part of creating value for customers.”

“We are enhancing our capability to bring creative teams together to inspire customers and explore new solutions with a people-centered, holistic approach,” Gilboe said.
