There’s less than one week to go until New Zealand’s only dedicated trade show and conference for the commercial cleaning industry, CleanNZ Expo.

The free-to-attend event is shaping up to be bigger than ever, with more 30 exhibitors and two days of professional development sessions for building service contractors, business owners, facilities managers, and suppliers.

The event will take place at Ellerslie Events Centre on Tuesday 25 October and Wednesday 25 October.

The event’s education program will also be held across both days and will cover a broad range of topics including  employment law, health and safety, industry best practice, and indoor air quality.

For the first time, St Johns will host two-hour health and safety training sessions for delegates across both days of the expo.

Among the event’s speakers is Callum McMillan, Labour Inspectorate regional manager, Ministry Of Business, Innovation And Employment (MBIE), who will discuss upcoming legislative changes, including provisions to tackle migrant worker exploitation, Fair Pay Agreements, and better protections for vulnerable contractors.

McMillan’s session will also provide attendees an overview of cases involving cleaning operators investigated by the Labour Inspectorate and discuss common compliance issues.

Penny Barrett, business development consultant, Careerforce; and Sean Johnson, director of Restore Clean & Restoration, will also host an interactive session on carpet cleaning.

The session is based on the recently revised Certificate in Cleaning (Level 3) and will provide attendees with practical demonstrations on approved carpet cleaning methods and stain removal.

The presentation will also deal with important aspects of the ANSI/IICRC S100 and AS/NZS 3733:2018 carpet cleaning standards.

“The session will showcase the Level 3 Cleaning Program as well as provide attendees with practical carpet cleaning demonstrations from the programme,” said Barrett.

Other speakers include Sandra Faye, St Johns; Rebecca Mitchell, Solutions Partner, ACC; Wendy Stephens, Sappho Creative Solutions; and Karen Kavanagh, Rentokil Initial.

BSCNZ to host industry conference

The BSCNZ will also host an exclusive industry conference in conjunction with CleanNZ Expo, with keynote speakers to include Sir Richard Hadlee and Sir Ian Taylor.

The BSCNZ Evolve conference will run alongside the highly anticipated CleanNZ Expo.

Sarah McBride, CEO of BSCNZ, said the conference has been tailored to educate, motivate, and inspire success.

“Each speaker will bring to the stage their own learnings and knowledge to share with the group,” said McBride.

“This event has a focus on effective leadership, industry learnings, and inspiring speakers. Inspiration that will go beyond industry related topics and into our daily lives.”

Hosted by Kerre McIvor, the BSCNZ Evolve Industry Conference will feature an extensive line up of speakers including Kirk Hope, CEO of BusinessNZ; and ANZ chief economist, Sharon Zollner.

BSCNZ and FMANZ to hold joint networking event

Evolve will also feature a dual networking event for BSCNZ and Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ) members.

The dual networking event will take place following the first day of conference.

The conference will conclude with a gala dinner, sponsored by NZ Cleaning Supplies, at Sky City.

“Without our generous sponsors the CleanNZ Expo and the BSCNZ Evolve Industry Conference would not be possible to a since thank you to all, including our gold sponsor Kärcher New Zealand; silver sponsors Bunzl, Mobil, Careerforce, and Kiwi Maintenance Group; and our bronze sponsor, Filta.

“Our FMANZ and BSCNZ networking event is sponsored by Tork Professional Hygiene, Essity. Special thanks also to Auckland Unlimited for their ongoing support assisting the BSCNZ to run a successful Auckland even,” said McBride.
