OCS ANZ MD appointed chair of Sustainable Business Council

NZ’s Sustainable Business Council announces election of OCS ANZ MD to position of chair.

New Zealand’s Sustainable Business Council (SBC) has announced the election of OCS ANZ managing director Gareth Marriott to the position of chair.

A longstanding board member and passionate emissions reduction champion, Marriott believes organisations need to work collaboratively to help make our communities and planet a better place.

“Working with like-minded leaders and the team at the Sustainable Business Council provides an opportunity to connect, commit, learn, and lead,” said Marriott.

“As business leaders, we have a responsibility to Aotearoa New Zealand to advocate at the highest levels for change to improve outcomes for the next generation. And, as a sector, we have a responsibility to manage our emissions and support our customers to do the same.

“While we can each make a difference, collectively, we can do much more. It’s critical for Aotearoa that we get it right – individually, as a sector and as a nation.”

Marriott has been on the SBC board for more than five years.

SBC is a CEO-led membership organisation with more than 130 businesses from all sectors, ambitious for a sustainable New Zealand.

Members represent more than $118 billion of collective turnover, 33 per cent of GDP, and nearly 190,000 full-time jobs.

“We have lots of work to do, but I’m excited by the calibre of our board – we’re ready to make a difference.”

Through its membership, SBC aims to mobilise New Zealand’s most ambitious businesses to build a thriving and sustainable future for all.

OCS has been an SBC member for 12 years, with both organisations sharing similar sustainability goals and ambitions.
