3M has announced multiple updates to the company’s senior leadership team.

Michael Vale has been appointed 3M group president and chief business and country officer, a new role on the company’s corporate operations committee.

In this new role, Vale will oversee three of the company’s four business groups (safety and industrial, transportation and electronics, and consumer), customer operations, country governance, and emerging markets.

Vale has been with 3M for more than 30 years, most recently serving as group president of the company’s safety and industrial business group.

Additionally, 3M expanded the responsibilities of Monish Patolawala, executive vice president and chief finance and transformation officer, and John Banovetz, executive vice president of environmental responsibility and chief technology officer.

Patolawala’s added duties include enterprise strategy development and leading the company’s global service centers.

Banovetz assumes responsibility for new growth ventures, which include 3M’s venture investment arm and early-stage research and development organisation.
