3M appoints CEO of healthcare spin off

3M announces CEO of company’s healthcare business group.

3M has appointed Bryan Hanson CEO of the company’s healthcare business group.

Earlier this year, 3M announced its intent to spin off its healthcare business, which had US$8.4 billion in sales in 2022. The tax-free transaction is expected to be finalised by the end of the year.

Hanson joins 3M from medical technology firm Zimmer Biomet, where he has served as president and CEO since 2017 and chairman since 2021.

Prior to joining Zimmer Biomet, Hanson was executive vice president and president of Medtronic’s minimally invasive therapies group.

Hanson serves on the board of directors for Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. and the Advanced Medical Technology Association.

“We are pleased to have Bryan join us to successfully complete the spin-off of our healthcare business and build a leading independent medical technology innovation company,” said Mike Roman, 3M CEO and chairman.

“His industry expertise, ability to drive growth, and track record of building a strong culture and teams will make an immediate impact.”
